He Wenbo held talks with Edwin Basson, Director General of the World Steel Association.
On the morning of June 19, He Wenbo, Executive Chairman of the China Iron and Steel Association, held talks with Edwin Basson, Director General of the World Steel Association, in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on the steel situation in China and globally, as well as future cooperation between the two associations.

Both sides jointly believe that promoting the low-carbon transformation is the primary task for the global steel industry, including that of China, at present and in the future, and it requires extensive cooperation from all enterprises and governments of various countries. As steel associations, they should pay close attention to the changes in important standards and regulations related to the green and low-carbon transformation of the industry, play a role in promoting the green transformation, and promptly assess the possible impacts of relevant policies and regulations on the healthy development of the steel industry, and make contributions to protecting and improving the development environment of the steel industry.
Both sides have agreed that the World Steel Association and the China Iron and Steel Association will maintain communication on key issues of green steel and arrange thematic exchanges. The Executive Committee meeting and the annual meeting of the World Steel Association, as well as the 12th China International Steel Conference and the Global Low-carbon Metallurgy Innovation Forum hosted by the China Iron and Steel Association and Baowu Group, will be held simultaneously in Shanghai in October this year.
